Durdle Door…

…under which centuries have passed,
in small indents,
gradually chipping away,
callous time grooving callous rock,
as it does to us all,
though we are rarely as
impressive as the door.

Bowed over ocean water,
resolute,
green wires on the cliff face,
patchy Portland stone,
lapping waters and the birds,
riding the small waves,
as carefree as time itself.
